Saltdogs Make Trade with Calgary

The Lincoln Saltdogs have traded Outfielder Ian Church (LS-1) and Pitcher Chris Mowday (LS-4) to the Calgary Vipers for a player to be named later.

Ian Church played for the Saltdogs during the 2003 and part of the 2004 season before being traded to Sioux City. He was reacquired by the Saltdogs last September. As a member of the Saltdogs, Church batted .253 with 2 HR's and 13 RBI in 33 games played. He will be reunited with former Saltdogs Hitting Coach Mike Busch, who was named the inaugural manager for the expansion Vipers this past March.

Chris Mowday was signed by the Saltdogs on April 5th. The native of Strathpine, Australia, played in the Chicago Cubs minor league system last season and had a record of 3-1 with an ERA of 1.96 with the Daytona Cubs (A). In 55 innings pitched, Mowday walked 31 and struck out 59. He began his professional career in 1998 after signing as a free agent with the Toronto Blue Jays organization

The Lincoln Saltdogs are scheduled to open the season at 7:05 pm on Friday, May 20th in Sioux Falls, SD against the Sioux Falls Canaries at Sioux Falls Stadium.

The 2005 home opener is set for May 23rd against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at 7:05 pm at Haymarket Park. For tickets call 474-BALL.
