Saltdogs Sign OF Goss
Outfielder Mike Goss (LS-3) has been added to the Saltdogs roster. In 2004 Goss split time between South Bend (A), where he played in 81 games, and El Paso (AA), where he played in 12. In South Bend, for the Silver Hawks, Goss batted .287 with 0 HR's and 26 RBI and had an on-base percentage of .340.
"Mike is the type of player who can definitely help our team," said Saltdogs Manager Tim Johnson.
Goss, 24, a native of Louisville, MS, will begin his fourth season of professional baseball. After playing college baseball at Jackson State, Goss was selected in the 11th round of the 2002 draft by the Red Sox and assigned to Lowell of the New York Penn League. In 2003, he was part of the trade between the Red Sox and the Arizona Diamondbacks that sent pitcher Kurt Schilling to Boston.
Goss' career totals include a batting average of .283 with 1 HR, 70 RBI and an on-base percentage of .345.
The Lincoln Saltdogs are scheduled to open the season at 7:05 pm on Friday, May 20th in Sioux Falls, SD against the Sioux Falls Canaries at Sioux Falls Stadium. The 2005 home opener is set for May 23rd against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at 7:05 pm at Haymarket Park. For tickets call 474-BALL.
