Southpaws Signed

Left-handed pitchers Brian Rodaway (LS-4), a former University of Nebraska standout, and Roger Lincoln (Rookie) will pitch this season for the Lincoln Saltdogs. Rodaway, 6' 3" and 190 pounds, spent the past two seasons with the Salem Avalanche of the Carolina League (A). He appeared in 34 games last season, starting 19, and had a record of 5-8 with an ERA of 4.87. In 131 1/3 innings pitched, he struck out 67 and walked 30.

"It's great to have a Nebraska player who has a wealth of experience," said Saltdogs Manager Tim Johnson. "This is just another step in his career and in his pursuit of a big league opportunity."

Rodaway, 26, a Lincoln native, graduated from Lincoln High School before going on to a standout career at the University of Nebraska. He will begin his fifth season of professional baseball this season, after being drafted by the Houston Astros in the 16th round of the 2001 draft.

Rodaway's career totals in 114 games played include a record of 25-25 and an overall ERA of 3.60. In 489 1/3 innings pitched, he has 300 strike outs and 103 walks.

Roger Lincoln, 24, pitched the past two seasons for Mahoning Valley (A) of the New York-Penn League. Lincoln went 3-3 with an ERA of 3.73 for the Scrappers, last season, and appeared in 24 games. In 41 innings pitched, he walked 15 and struck out 39. The Northford, CT native has a career record of 6-3 and a 3.16 ERA. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 34th round of the 2003 draft, after pitching collegiately at Stetson College.

The Lincoln Saltdogs are scheduled to open the season at 7:05 pm on Friday, May 20th in Sioux Falls, SD against the Sioux Falls Canaries at Sioux Falls Stadium.

The 2005 home opener is set for May 23rd against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at 7:05 pm at Haymarket Park. For tickets call 474-BALL.
