Saltdogs shutout T-Bones in Exhibition Finale

The Lincoln Saltdogs finished a perfect exhibition season with a 9-0 victory over the Kansas City T-Bones on Tuesday in Fremont. Eight pitchers took the hill for Lincoln and they combined to allow only five hits in the contest. Gary Hogan started the game and went two strong innings allowing only a walk in the two frames.

Again the Saltdogs began the game with runs in the first inning. Two singles in a row from Cory Harris and Pichi Balet put runners on the corners with no one down. Brian Warner grounded out to Michael Brown at second after the ball bounced off Ray Brown at first, but Harris was able to score from third. After a wild pitch from Kansas City pitcher Jon McDonald moved Balet to third, Kevin Grijack hit an RBI single driving home Balet.

Three more runs crossed the plate in the third inning for the Dogs. Albenis Machado started the scoring for the Saltdogs with a one out double. Balet followed a Harris walk with an RBI double. Warner and Grijack also picked up RBIs in the inning.

A combination of four Saltdog pitchers took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before designated hitter Eddie Pearson broke it up with a single back up the middle against Humberto Cardenas with one out.

Harris scored three times for Lincoln while picking up a pair of hits in the game at Moeller Field. Machado also crossed the plate three times.

The Saltdogs plated 51 runs over their four exhibition games and only allowed 12. They look to carry their hot bats in the regular season opener against Sioux Falls on the 20th. The home opener is May 23 against Winnipeg with the first pitch at 7:05 pm.
