Saltdogs Defeat T-Bones in Exhibition Game

In all 12 pitchers saw time on the mound in the exhibition match up between the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Kansas City T-Bones. But the story of the game was the Saltdogs' hitting as Lincoln won 17-3.

The Saltdogs opened scoring early in the contest. With one down first baseman Pichi Balet lined a 0-1 pitch over the wall in left center off T-Bone pitcher Caleb Balbuena for a home run and the first score of the game.

In the second inning, Lincoln plated another run. After back-to-back singles from Mike Goss and J.D. Foust the Dogs had runners on first and third with one down. Goss scored on a pass ball to extend the Saltdogs' lead to two.

Kansas City struck back in the top of the third. Ryan Freiburger hit a one out single and the T-Bones loaded the bases with a hit batter and an error. Ray Brown struck out looking, but Kansas City scored off a wild pitch from left-hander Alex Carbajal.

Jake Whitesides began the fourth inning with a walk from Kansas City pitcher John Howerton. A double from Kevin Sullivan put runners on second and third before Mike Goss drove in one run and J. D. Foust followed with a 2 RBI double. In the inning the Saltdogs sent 14 batters to the plate, scoring 11 runs on seven hits.

The T-Bones were able to plate another run in the sixth inning when first baseman Ray Brown led off with a single. Eddie Pearson followed with a single of his own and Brown was able to score on a groundball from Cody Nowlin.
