Reliever Kyle Allen Signed

INCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Saltdogs have announced that the team has signed left handed pitcher Kyle Allen to a contract for the 2006 season.

Allen, a native of Westminster, CA, was acquired last August and appeared in 11 games, all in relief, for the Saltdogs after starting the season with the Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League (A) in 2005. As a Saltdog, Allen recorded seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched.

A 16th round draft pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2004 draft, Allen will begin his third season of professional baseball in 2006.

The Lincoln Saltdogs, members of the American Association of Independent League Professional Baseball, will begin their sixth season of professional baseball on May 11, 2006 in Pensacola.

Yaconetti Sign With Saltdogs for 2006 Season

LINCOLN, Neb. - Lincoln Saltdogs third baseman Jay Yaconetti, acquired last August, will be back for the 2006 season.

Yaconetti, a native of Gilbert, AZ, was acquired in a trade with the Surprise Falcons of the Golden Baseball League last season where he was named to the All-Star Team. In 2005 for Lincoln, Yaconetti batted .229 avg. with 3 HR's and 15 RBI in 32 games.

Yaconetti, 23, will begin his third season of professional baseball in 2006. He originally signed as a nondrafted free agent with Minnesota Twins organization in 2004 after a collegiate career spent at Central Arizona College, the University of Oklahoma and the University of New Orleans. He spent the 2004 season with the Elizabethtown Twins (Class A) of the Appalachian League.

The Lincoln Saltdogs, a charter member of the American Association of Independent League Professional Baseball, will begin their sixth season of professional baseball in May 2006 when they open the season at Pensacola.
