Saltdogs Add Pitcher

Lincoln, NE * Right-Handed Pitcher Gary Hogan has signed with the Lincoln Saltdogs. Hogan began the 2005 season with the Saltdogs and concluded the season with the River City Rascals of the Frontier League (Independent).

In 2005 for Lincoln, Hogan appeared in ten games, with eight starts, and pitched 45.1 innings with 20 strikeouts. At River City he pitched in 14 games, seven as a starter.

"Gary is someone we'll take a strong look at," said Saltdogs Manager Tim Johnson. "He's big and strong and has the physical characteristics to be a power pitcher."

Hogan spent the 2004 season in the Texas Rangers minor league system, with three teams, Frisco (AA) of the Texas League; Stockton (A) of the California League and Clinton (A) of the Midwest League.

A native of North Little Rock, AR, Hogan, 24, played college baseball at the University of Arkansas for the Razorbacks. In the 2002 draft he was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 32nd round.

The Lincoln Saltdogs, members of the American Association of Independent League Professional Baseball, will begin their sixth season of professional baseball on May 11, 2006 in Pensacola with the first pitch scheduled at 6:35 pm. The first home game at Haymarket Park is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23rd against the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 pm.
